Hand written phrases from some of the world’s most celebrated figures
Words have the power to illuminate the imagination. From 2004 to 2008 Booth reached out to leaders in politics, the arts and entertainment, asking each to write an inspiring word or phrase that she would then transform into neon. In December of 2015 the Illumination Show, premiering these works, opened at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Lauren Booth Family Day at the Mattatuck Museum
Waterbury, CT... Join the Mattatuck Museum on Sunday, January 17, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. as we open our doors for a free, family-fun activity. Children of all ages with their caregivers are invited to join artist Lauren Booth for a talk about her work included in The Illumination Show followed by an art-making workshop creating fun light-up projects.
Artist Lauren Booth’s exhibition, The Illumination Show, showcases inspirational, neon sculptures featuring handwritten messages from world leaders whom she admires. Participants in the project include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Bono, Bill Clinton and Oprah. Booth has created a room-size environment of light in the Museum's gallery space, The Lab. This installation has the viewer move through darkened rooms, past velvety curtains, into new spaces where ethereal lighted text inspires interaction through dialogue with others. This collaborative artwork with its message of hope and optimism connects us with people we might not otherwise have connection. The Illumination Show will be on view in The Lab through January 17, 2016.
